On November 12, 2008, Bishop Joseph of Ivanovo-Voznesensk and Kineshma laid the foundation of a wooden church in Zolotnikov Desert in honor of Saint Mitrophan of Voronezh. The first Divine Liturgy in this church took place on April 4, 2010, on Easter Day.

Even before the construction was completed, the church became a spiritual center of the monastery. On August 20, 2010, the day of the discovery of the relics of Saint Mitrophan of Voronezh, a solemn service was held in the church. It was attended by clergymen from the Ivanovo-Voznesensk and Kineshma dioceses, as well as pilgrims from Ivanovo, Tula, Moscow, and Saratov. A procession was held. A year later, on August 20, 2011, the church was consecrated.

Spiritual leaders continued to visit the church for communal services. On August 20, 2012, Bishops Nikon of Shuya and Teikovo and Hilarion of Kineshma and Paleh conducted the Divine Liturgy and a procession in the church of Saint Mitrophan of Voronezh.

In 2012, the monastery had the status of a parish, and since 2013 it has been a dependency of the Nikol-Shartomsky Men's Monastery. Bishop Nikon of the Shuya Diocese personally oversees the restoration of the ancient monastery.

On November 14, 2013, the Zolotnikov Desert was visited by Metropolitan Sergey of Voronezh and Borisoglebsk and Bishop Andrey of Ostrogozhsk. They prayed in the church, conducted a glorification, and presented a part of the relics of Saint Mitrophan to the monastery. On November 16, 2013, this relic was placed in the icon of the saint in the church.

The monastery also supports nearby villages and their churches. On July 7, 2010, on the day of the Nativity of John the Baptist, a Divine Liturgy and procession took place in the church of the village of Sidorovskoye. The service was led by Archimandrite Hilarion Kaygorodtsev, and the brotherhood choir of the Nikol-Shartomsky Monastery sang. Residents of the village and numerous guests attended the celebration.
