About one hundred and fifty years ago, the residents of the village of Pavlovka built a cemetery church, which was consecrated in honor of Archangel Michael. At that time, there were many households in Pavlovka, and the people were pious and God-fearing. However, in the thirties, a man appeared among them, known by the nickname Sych, either Vanya or Vasya. This local bandit one night, unafraid of God or man, broke into the priest's house with an axe. He expected to find wealth there but discovered only a bag of grain. For that bag, Sych brutally killed the priest and his wife, and only wounded their daughter. The girl, who survived the horror, testified in hopes of justice, but the court was lenient towards Sych, as killing a priest in those godless times was not considered a serious crime. Instead of help, the priest's daughter nearly lost her home, which they wanted to seize, and the local church was to be destroyed. However, the residents of Pavlovka, despite their fear of the authorities, stood up to defend their church. They persistently asked and demanded that the church by the cemetery not be destroyed. The arriving commission did not want to conflict with the locals and did not demolish the shrine in front of the angry villagers, but simply quietly closed the church. Over time, it ceased to function and began to decay. Nevertheless, people continued to come to this empty church to pray. Even during its closure, someone would always crack open the doors of St. Michael the Archangel Church to be alone with God. The church continued to live, despite everything.
