In the Nekrasovsky municipal district, the ruined Church of Archangel Michael had long been in disrepair. This temple, built with the donations of parishioners in 1777, is located on the outskirts of the village of Kuvakino in a picturesque spot on a hill. Surviving documents mention that the church was constructed literally "penny by penny."

The church is a typical example of pillarless refectory parish rural churches. Its composition is based on a two-colored square with a semicircular altar part, equal in width to the refectory, and a tented bell tower, characteristic of Yaroslavl architecture. The first tier of the bell tower serves as a narthex. On the southern side of the bell tower, there is a small brick annex, likely for utility purposes. The church is topped with five domes, and the onion-shaped domes with metal coverings are set on narrow cylindrical drums. Their coverings are significantly damaged, and the remaining parts are affected by corrosion. The crosses have survived only on the western domes, which have noticeably tilted from the vertical axis. The dome above the chapel is lost.

The decorative design of the church is done in the style of the 17th century. The window openings of the square and altar are adorned with frames in the form of columns with entablatures, window cornices on brackets, and triangular pediments. The windows of the refectory have similar decorations but with semicircular pediments. The walls of the square are topped with an entablature that includes an architrave, a smooth frieze, and a stepped cornice with a series of small towns. The other parts of the church are decorated with a simple stepped cornice. Most decorative elements are heavily damaged and require restoration.

In 1936, at the initiative of the Soviet authorities, the parish was closed, and from that time until the 1990s, the church was used as a warehouse. Interior renovations were carried out, causing significant damage to the building.

For a long time, no services were held in the church, and no hymns were sung. However, since July 2002, at the initiative of the villagers, the restoration of the church began. A parish council was created to organize the work, led by an active resident of Yaroslavl, Natalia Semyonovna Kalikina. The restoration began with cleaning the church of debris and improving the cemetery grounds. Cementing of the roof was also carried out. On the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 2002, a service was held in the church for the first time in many decades. Since 2003, services have been held regularly here.
