In 1628, the village of Voronino was called Makaryevskoye and was attached to the royal court, indicating its prosperity. The village had a single-altar wooden church dedicated to St. Macarius of Yellow Waters. In 1635, two priests, Joachim and the retired Nikifor, as well as the psalmist Mishka Ku vardin, served here.

When the village began to be called Voronino is unknown, but by the 19th century it was already referred to as the Voronin pogost. According to unconfirmed reports, the church of St. Macarius burned down, but the exact date of this event is unknown.

In 1852, a wealthy individual built a new stone church with a central chapel in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and side chapels dedicated to St. Macarius of Yellow Waters and St. Alexander Nevsky. The church, in the Russian-Byzantine style and designed by K. A. Ton, is a two-light five-domed square with a refectory and a tented bell tower. It is located on the outskirts of the village of Voronino and faces the main street with its eastern facade, serving as a height dominant of the settlement.

The plastered walls of the church, typical of later constructions, with preserved decorative elements, have proven resilient to the destructive influence of time and precipitation. The main altar is consecrated in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The church and cemetery are enclosed by a stone fence with southern gates adorned with wrought iron doors and a cross, and a northern gate.

The church and fence are made of red brick, plastered, and have a symmetrical axial layout. The bell tower, refectory, square, and five-sided altar apse are aligned along the east-west axis. An ancient tombstone cross near the refectory indicates a possible burial of someone from the clergy. The dome of the church has not survived, but some of the frescoes are still visible on the walls. The image of the ancient ascetic at the entrance to the refectory is particularly impressive. The church was closed no later than the 1930s and is now abandoned.

The condition of the church currently leaves much to be desired. The roof covering has been lost, the roof of the refectory has collapsed, almost all frescoes have disappeared, the wooden carvings of the iconostasis are damaged, and the icons are lost. The stoves, floors, and roof of the refectory are destroyed, and the brickwork of the outer walls is damaged. The tented completion of the dome has been lost, the brickwork of the gates, gate, and fence, as well as their coverings, are damaged. The side domes of the gates and the dome of the gate have also been lost.
