The village of Urusovo in the Serdobsky district of the Saratov province was founded in 1715. In 1842, with funds from Countess Alexandra Grigorievna Laval, a stone three-altar church with a bell tower was built here. The main altar was dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, and the side altars were dedicated to the Holy Prophet John the Baptist and the Holy Martyr Queen Alexandra. The church had a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist, as well as houses for the church clergy.

In 1872, peasant Timofey Gordeev donated an icon of the Mother of God from Athos in a carved gilded kiot to the church. In 1882, another parishioner, Ivan Gordeev, at his own expense decorated the church facade with sacred images. In 1916, the church was repaired thanks to the parish's charitable efforts.

In early 1936, the bells were removed from the church. After complaints from the faithful, the Presidium of the District Executive Committee decided to re-register the clergy and not allow them to perform rituals without registration. The last priest was Hieromonk Mitrofan Yakovlevich Borilov, who was arrested on September 5, 1937, and shot in Saratov on October 5 of the same year.

At the end of 1937, mass arrests of parishioners began, and the Kazan church ceased its activities, with the community being liquidated. In 1941, 86.7% of the village's residents signed a petition for the church's closure, and it was closed on July 2. In 1949, it was decided to use the church building for grain storage.

On November 13, 1990, the Orthodox parish reopened in Urusovo. The parish meeting was attended by the archpriest of the Saratov district, Nikolai Arkhangelsky, and the religious affairs commissioner, Vladimir Anikeev. Priest Pyotr Derzhavin was appointed as the temporary rector.

Teachers from the Urusovo school initiated the restoration of the church. In the fall of 2009, together with students, they began clearing the church, and later sought help from the village residents. Farmers provided equipment. In the summer of 2010, young people from the Saratov diocesan society continued the work. On June 22, 2010, the first memorial service was held for those who died in the Great Patriotic War.

On July 10, 2010, the first Hierarchical service was held in the Kazan church after its closure. The Divine Liturgy was led by Bishop Longin of Saratov and Volsk, after which a procession took place around the church.
