The village of Subbotino began construction in 1845 at the mouth of the Shush river from the Sayan mountain system. The first settlers arrived here from the village of Rukhnovo in the Vyatka province: the Domnins, Ohorodnikovs, Fedosimovs, and others. At a village meeting, it was decided to build a wooden church with public funds and the efforts of the villagers. Each family was to bring 4-5 logs from the taiga and work on the church's construction for at least a week.

In 1864, the church was finally completed, bells were installed, and a parish was formed in the name of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. On July 21, it was consecrated by His Grace Nikodim, Bishop of Yenisei and Krasnoyarsk.

In 1907, it was decided to build a new brick church next to the wooden one, as the old one could not accommodate all the parishioners from the surrounding villages. The construction was carried out by a hired team of specialists, and all families participated in turns. The church was built quickly, and by 1909, the bells were raised.

The new church became one of the most beautiful in the south of the Yenisei province. The wooden church was dismantled and transported to the village of Shunery, where it served the parishioners until it burned down in a fire. In 1936, the brick church was destroyed, property was removed, and the building was turned into a village club and library. In 1968, the church was used as a storage for herbal flour, and then it was abandoned. Attempts to dismantle it for brick use were unsuccessful, and the building was turned into a barn for livestock.

With the beginning of perestroika in 1990, the revival of Christianity began in Subbotino, as well as across the country. Retired teachers and enthusiastic residents, such as Elena Ivanovna Domnina and others, decided to restore the church and revive the faith. In 1990, a decision was made at a village meeting to restore the temple. By November 4, 1997, for the feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, the interior finishing work was completed, and in the summer of 1998, the exterior work began.

On October 12, 1998, the Bishop of Krasnoyarsk and Yenisei, Antoniy, visited the temple. He appreciated the villagers' contribution to the restoration of the church and wished for the successful completion of the work. After the restoration of the bell tower, the bells were solemnly consecrated and raised. Services continue in the temple in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.
