The wooden church, built in 1751, has two altars: the main, cold one is dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, and the winter chapel is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the Miracle Worker of Myra.

According to local historical data, in the early 20th century, the church underwent major renovations and was surrounded by a stone fence. Since 1901, the Brotherhood of Saint Nicholas the Miracle Worker operated at the church, and the village priests often performed the duties of assistant to the dean. After the 1917 revolution, the brotherhood was dissolved, and believers faced attacks from atheists. In the 1930s, the former barn across from the church was converted into a club by collective farmers.

The church was closed in 1937, but services resumed in 1945 or 1946. In the post-war years, the Rumyantsevo church remained the only functioning church in the Dalnekonstantinovsky district.

In the 1980s, a stone foundation was built under the church.

Currently, the boundaries for the parish of the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Rumyantsevo, Dalnekonstantinovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod region, include territories of such settlements as the village of Dubrava, the villages of Rumyantsevo, Simbilei, Gornye Berezniki, Novoe, Novoe Zhedrino, Staryi Otnos, as well as the villages of Maimory, Staraia Puner', Staroselie, Trukhlei, Kuzhutki, and Zubanikha.
