The village of Nila, located by the Nilka River, is 8 versts from the district town and 120 versts from the provincial capital. Until 1764, when the monastic estates were abolished, it belonged to the Pereslavl Goritsky Monastery. Since that time, the village has become part of state property.

In the early 17th century, there was already a wooden church dedicated to the Archangel Michael, built by the monastery. In 1678, a church with the same name is also mentioned in Nila, according to census records. In the 18th century, the church was rebuilt, but the exact date of this event has not been preserved.

In 1810, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, a stone temple was erected on the site of the wooden church, which still exists today. It has two altars: in the cold part, in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, and in the warm chapel, in the name of the Archistrateg Michael. The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. All church documents are kept intact in the church of the Ivanovsky village, including copies of the metric books since 1797 and confession lists since 1813.
