The church in the village of Mor-Karaguzha was built in 1904. In 1941, with the onset of war, the villagers began discussing the need to resume church services. The church building was preserved, and even the bells remained in place. Soon it was permitted to open the church, which caused widespread joy. Subsequently, there were several attempts to close it, but the locals managed to defend the temple.

In 1968, despite protests from residents, the church's domes were demolished by order of the authorities. This was done by one of the locals using a K-700 tractor. According to eyewitnesses, a year later, this tractor driver drowned under mysterious circumstances.

Today, the villagers are advocating for the restoration of the temple. Since restoring the wooden building requires significant funds, they plan to build a new church. One local resident has appealed to the Committee of the Ulyanovsk Region for Cultural Heritage to consider the possibility of demolishing the old building and constructing a new one in its place. After inspection, it was suggested to consider the option of building a new church in a different location.

Currently, the Committee of the Ulyanovsk Region for Cultural Heritage is conducting a state historical and cultural examination to decide whether to include the site in the register of historical and cultural monuments. Requests have also been sent to the Saratov State Archive, the local history museum, and the Saratov Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church to collect historical and archival materials about the church.
