The church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Margushi was built in 1855. It had three altars: in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, and Hermogenes, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.

The last rector of the Kazan church was Vasily Mikhailovich Troitsky. In October 1937, he was arrested on charges of anti-Soviet agitation, and on December 15 of the same year, the NKVD Troika sentenced him to the highest measure of punishment. On December 22, 1937, he was executed. Along with him, a resident of the village of Margushi, Alexey Fyodorovich Samarin, an agronomist of the Tamuzhnikov MTS, was also executed.

The church was destroyed and is no longer in operation.
