Originally, the church was named after Vladimir, which was not accidental. Old Believers, adherents of ancient traditions, especially venerate Prince Vladimir the Saint, under whom the baptism of Rus took place. The construction of the church began in 1908 based on the design by architect N.M. Veshnyakov, and it became possible thanks to the finances and tireless energy of N.A. Bugrov. The church was consecrated on July 13, 1912.

In the 1930s, services in the church ceased, and only after 60 years was it returned to the Old Believer community and reconsecrated in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. In the summer of 1992, employees of the research center "Ethnos" began studying the church as an architectural monument and carried out conservation and restoration work to bring it out of an emergency state.

The church, built of red brick and located on an elevation, is executed in the Russian style and is distinguished by its rich decoration and architectural ingenuity. Its facades are adorned with colored tiles and white plaster details. All windows had thin metal frames and colored stained glass, and a beautiful cast-iron spiral staircase led to the choir. The church was heated by convectors installed in the basement. Its three-tiered tent bell tower, a covered porch reminiscent of the entrance of an ancient Russian terem, and five blue domes were visible from afar. Fragments of paintings on themes of religious holidays and floral ornaments have been preserved in the interiors.
