The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was built in 1912 according to the design of architect A.G. Uspensky, who was the son of writer G.I. Uspensky. In the 1930s, the church was closed, and the building was used as a club. Worship services resumed during the German occupation, and in 1942, Priest Feodor Puzanov began serving here. After being transferred to the Pskov region, Father Feodor maintained contact with partisans and was awarded the medal "Partisan of the Great Patriotic War." Special attention is deserved for the feat of Archpriest Alexander Tsypin, who, responding to the requests of believers, resumed pastoral service at the age of eighty and continued until 1947. The church was closed again in the early 1960s, and in 1989 it was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church.

A Sunday school operates at the church. On April 22, 2012, on the centenary of the church, Metropolitan Lev consecrated a new parish house located on the church grounds, which will house the parish spiritual and educational center.
