The emergence of the monastery in the vicinity of the present-day city of Danilov is associated with the name of the elder Kapiton, who in 1634 received the wasteland of Kolesnikovo by a decree from Tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich Romanov. It was here, in Kolyasniki, that a religious teaching emerged, which became the basis for the non-priestly movement known as 'Kapitonovshchina.' This teaching spread throughout the country and preceded the reforms of Patriarch Nikon.

After Kapiton and his followers left the monastery in 1639, it fell into desolation and nearly closed. However, in 1640, monks from the abolished Transfiguration Male Monastery were transferred here, and life in the monastery resumed. The monastery thrived thanks to pilgrims coming to the Appearing and Miraculous Icon of the Mother of God. The Troitsko-Kolyasnikov Monastery, located near the village of Danilovskoye, was well-equipped and had many valuable church items due to donations. The Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve preserves a unique Synodicon of the Trinity Monastery from the 17th century with colorful miniatures.

Under Kapiton, a wooden church was built in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity with chapels of the Ascension of the Lord and the martyr John of Belograd. Later, a wooden church of John the Theologian appeared. In the 1680s, instead of the wooden Trinity Church, two stone churches were built: one in honor of the Holy Trinity, the other of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The Trinity Church resembled the Trinity Cathedral of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, which is explained by the involvement of the cellarer of the Trinity Lavra, Prokhor, in the construction.

According to a description from 1680, in the Kolyasnikov Monastery, besides three churches, there were eight brotherly cells, a bakery, two barns, and a stable yard. The monastery was surrounded by a covered fence. On the bell tower, moved in 1644, a clock with a chime was installed. Near the Trinity Church, there was a chapel over the grave of St. Elijah the Fool, who was venerated by the locals.

The Trinity Monastery existed for just over a century and was abolished in 1764. The churches became parish churches, and a village called Troitskoye emerged on the monastery lands.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, there was a large church settlement in Kolyasniki with two temples, a house for clergy, and a church school. To this day, neither monastic nor civil buildings have survived. On the site of the former monastery and village, a memorial cross was erected on October 9, 2008.
