The village of Ryabovo was founded in the mid-18th century. Until the 1750s, this land belonged to the peasant Artemy Limonov. In 1749, parishioners from the villages of Karinka and Mudrova submitted a petition for the construction of a wooden church in the name of Saint John the Baptist on the Ryabovka River and the establishment of an independent parish. Limonov ceded land for the church and settled in a hamlet located a verst from the future village.

On September 4, 1752, the Vyatka Spiritual Consistory permitted the construction of a wooden temple in honor of the Nativity of John the Baptist. By 1757, the temple was built and consecrated. Houses for church servants appeared around the church, and thus the village of Ryabovo was formed.

A few years later, the church fell into disrepair, and in 1788, parishioners appealed to Bishop Lavrenty with a request to build a new stone church. In 1795, construction based on the design by architect F.M. Roslyakov was completed.

In the early 1830s, at the request of the parishioners, a stone bell tower was erected. The spiritual authorities provided permission and a construction plan similar to the existing bell tower in the village of Izhevskoe of the Yaran district.

By the 1840s, the church ensemble was completed: the church was surrounded by a stone fence with arched gates. The exterior of the church no longer changed, unlike the interior.

On January 4, 1850, priest Mikhail Vasilyevich Vasnetsov was transferred to the village of Ryabovo with his family. His sons were born here: artist Apollinary, teacher and agronomist Pyotr, folk teacher and city mayor Arkady, and folk teacher Alexander. The parents of the Vasnetsov brothers and their maternal grandfather are buried in the churchyard.

The church was destroyed in the mid-1960s, along with the fence and the graves of the Vasnetsovs.

In August 1993, at the initiative of the descendants of the Vasnetsovs, the foundation of a new wooden church in Ryabovo was laid. In 1996, the cross and dome of the church were consecrated by Archbishop Chrisanth. In June 1998, on the 150th anniversary of V.M. Vasnetsov, the new church in honor of the Nativity of John the Baptist was consecrated. The consecration was conducted by Archpriest Nikolai Fedko, and the Vasnetsov Foundation gifted an icon of the Mother of God to the church.
