The stone church was built in 1750 with funds from parishioners and landowner I.O. Neverkov. The temple has two altars: in honor of the first and second finding of the Honorable Head of John the Baptist and a side altar dedicated to St. Martha.
Before the revolution, the parish included the villages: Yeremeytsevo, Lystsevo, Butyrki, Antonovo, Bushkatovo, Buslavtsevo, Golovino, Anisimtsevo, Poddubovo, Gridenino, Semyonkovo, and Dyabino. A zemstvo school also operated in the parish.
