Church of John the Theologian in Izosimovo

Фото 1
The wooden church in the village was built in 1783 and is dedicated to the apostle and evangelist John the Theologian. From 1859 to 1869, the temple was reconstructed. During the persecution of Orthodoxy, it was closed and used as a grain storage facility. In 1945, the church was re-consecrated, and services resumed without interruption.

The architectural composition of the church is in the shape of a cross, with the central part being a low square structure topped with a four-pitched metal roof and an onion dome on a decorative drum. On the eastern side, there is a five-sided altar apse, and on the western side, a small refectory and an elegant tent-shaped bell tower. The exterior of the building is clad in planks and painted bright green, while the carved window frames and patterns around the windows stand out in pristine white.

Today, the ancient church of John the Theologian continues to operate. It is the main decoration of the village and a monument of architecture.
