The village of Samarovo is located by the Seroksha River, 13 versts from the district town and 120 from the provincial capital. In 1559, it was transferred from Ivan Bryukhov to the Pereslavl Danilov Monastery by Tsar Ivan the Terrible. In the early 17th century, the village suffered greatly from the Lithuanian devastation.

According to the scribal books of 1628 and 1629, there was a wooden church of the righteous Joachim and Anna in Samarovo. A similar church is mentioned in the census books of 1678. In 1773, the church burned down, and a new wooden church with the same dedication was built that same year.

In 1814, a stone temple was erected on the site of the wooden church. It has two altars: in the cold part, in the name of the righteous Joachim and Anna, and in the warm chapel, in the name of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. All church documents are preserved: copies of the metric books since 1791 and confession lists since 1829.

According to the staff, the church has a priest and a psalmist. Their salary amounts to 310 rubles per year: 165 rubles from arable and haymaking land, 105 rubles from services and needs, and 40 rubles from bread collection. A house for the priest was built by the parishioners, and the psalmist has his own.

The church has an unspecified amount of land: 40 desyatins 1805 square fathoms of arable land and 9 desyatins 885 square fathoms of haymaking land. There is a plan and boundary book for the land. The parish includes the village and the villages of Polovetskaya and Potanina, where according to the clerical records, there are 344 men and 419 women, all Orthodox. There are two literacy schools in the village.
