Фото 1
Palishchi is first mentioned as a pogost in the land books of Vladimir province, compiled by Vasily Krapotkin in 1637 and 1648. It is noted that in the Sulovskaya clearing there is a pogost with a wooden church of the Prophet Elijah, which contains icons, books, vestments, and on the bell tower, bells and a clapper. All church property belonged to the laity. In 1779, the pogost of Palishchi was transferred from the Vladimir diocese to the Ryazan diocese.

In 1773, a new wooden church with the same dedication was built on the site of the dilapidated 17th-century Elijah church. There was also another church in honor of the Protection of the Holy Virgin for winter time, which was later sold to the village of Kazanskoye, also known as Sheino.

On the site of the two wooden churches, a stone Elijah church was erected. The Epiphany and Protection chapels were completed in 1818, and the main church in honor of the prophet Elijah in 1841. The bell tower of the church was built in 1853. In 1879 and 1883, the ceilings in the chapels were raised by more than 2 arshins, the walls were plastered, decorated with paintings, and new iconostases were installed, which were consecrated on November 24, 1884. Thanks to the installation of stoves, the church became warm.

The church owns several buildings, including a house built by merchant Pavel Zaitsev for the church parish school costing 2000 rubles, a house rented out as a hotel, a cellar, two houses for inns, a bakery, a forge, five grain barns, and 14 shops. All these buildings were constructed in 1879 and 1883. The income from them and their purpose is unknown.

The church lands include about 8 desyatins of homestead land, 144 desyatins of arable and meadow land, about 7 desyatins of forest, and 882 desyatins of marsh. There is a plan and boundary book for this land.

The parish includes the village and 18 villages with a population of 4025 men and 4253 women. According to the staff list of 1885, the clergy consists of three priests, a deacon, and three psalmists.
