In ancient written sources, the village of Sannitsy is first mentioned in the charter of Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich from 1504, addressed to Metropolitan Simon, where Sannitsy is referred to as a metropolitan estate. In the documents of the Patriarchal Treasury, the church of the village of Sannitsy is recorded in 1628: "the church of Saint Prophet Elijah in the village of Sannitsy, tribute 15 alt. 3 den." and in 1746: "the church of Saint Prophet Elijah in the village of Sannitsy, 2 rub. 40 kop."

The modern stone church in honor of Saint Prophet Elijah was built through the efforts of the parishioners: the refectory part in 1843, and the cold church in 1851. A stone bell tower was erected instead of the previous wooden one. In 1887, the church and bell tower were enclosed by a stone fence.

In the cold church, there are three altars: in honor of Saint Prophet Elijah, Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, and Venerable Sergius of Radonezh. In the refectory part, there are two altars: in honor of the Protection of the Mother of God and the Bogolyubskaya Icon of the Mother of God. Among the icons, special veneration is given to the local icon of Saint Prophet Elijah, adorned in 1859 by Priest Nikolai Elpidiforov with a silver-gilded robe. Two altar crosses deserve attention: one silver, gifted by parishioner Mikhail Alekseevich Vsevolozhsky, and another, a silver-gilded cross, gifted by Hieromonk Ilarion from the Sergiev Lavra in 1847.

Copies of the metric books since 1803 and confession lists since 1829 have been preserved intact. An inventory of church property was compiled in 1851 and certified with the seal of the consistory. The church land includes: a homestead area of 1 desyatina 660 square fathoms, arable land of 25 desyatinas, and hayfields of 9 desyatinas. There is no plan or boundary book for the land.

According to the statute, the clergy consists of: a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist. For the maintenance of the clergy, they receive annually from the land up to 140 rubles and for services up to 1130 rubles. The clergy's houses are located on church land. The parish includes the villages: Glukhovo, Shaplygino, Khrenovo, Kalintyevo, Gavril'tsevo, Novoe, Onisimovo, Nazhirovo, and the hamlets Ondiforovo, Orekhovo, Ondarovo, and Semyonovskoye. The parish consists of 373 households, 1136 men, and 1218 women. A zemstvo school operates in the village.
