Church of the Epiphany of the Lord in Podsosnoe

Фото 1
The building was laid on September 29, 1807, by the order of the Tobolsk Archbishop Antoniy, replacing the wooden church of Saints Flora and Laurus that burned down in 1806. The construction was carried out by a team of craftsmen from Yeniseisk, which included stonemasons Dudin S.O. and Lyutykh M.K., as well as carpenters Kochkov D. and Kochnev I. The first builder of the church was peasant Starikov G. In 1809, the southern side chapel of Saints Flora and Laurus was completed and consecrated on July 7, 1812. The main church of the Epiphany was consecrated on October 5, 1825.

From 1903 to 1906, the building was significantly expanded, adding two side chapels to the north and south according to the design of the Yenisei provincial architect Folbaum A.A. The southern side chapel of the Icon of the Mother of God "Relieve My Sorrows" was consecrated on July 8, 1905, and the northern side chapel of the apostles Peter and Paul on May 25, 1906.

The church is located in the center of the village on a small elevation. The central part of the building has a longitudinal axial composition: along the east-west axis, there is a square-plan church with a semicircular altar apse and a three-tiered bell tower of the "octagon on a square" type. The church's square is elongated vertically and covered with an eight-pitched vaulted roof. Each wall of the square ends with a low three-lobed half-dome with a round window opening.

The dome of the church is topped with a small cupola on four wooden "volutes" covered with strip iron. The window openings of the square have arched lintels and are framed with "ear-shaped" type decorative moldings. The embrasures of the round window openings cut into the walls of the square at an angle. The transition from the square to the octagon of the bell tower is achieved with small arches under diagonal faces.

The second tier of the bell tower has a vaulted ceiling. The "ringing" tier is pierced with eight arched openings with partially preserved wooden railings. The ceiling of the octagon of the bell tower is wooden, supported by beams. The dome of the bell tower is topped with a small cupola on a drum in the form of four wooden "volutes".

To the north and south, single-story side chapels adjoin the church square, extending the full length of the building. The altars of the side chapels have semicircular apses, each with two windows. The window openings of the side chapels are framed with "ear-shaped" type decorative moldings with a wedge-shaped keystone. In some window openings of the square and side chapels, metal grilles with a "cubical" pattern have been preserved. The dimensions of the building are 25.4 x 12.4 m.

During the reconstruction from 1903 to 1906, the southern side chapel, the altar apse of the main church, and part of its northern and southern walls were dismantled, replaced by semicircular arches. In the 1950s, the metal fence on a brick base was demolished. In the 1960s, the brick vaults of the refectory and the lower tier of the bell tower, the wooden ceilings of the bell tower, and part of the walls of the side chapels were dismantled. Interior elements have not survived.

Restoration work has not been carried out. A restoration project was developed in 1994 by architects Blokhin A.F. and Shumov K.Yu. The documentation is stored at LLC "Krasnoyarskarchproject". Technical condition: significant destruction, poor condition of wall structures and facade decor. Interiors have been completely lost.

This is a monument of Orthodox church architecture from the early 19th century in Baroque forms with late eclectic elements, representing the creativity of the representatives of the "Yenisei school" of Siberian architecture of the 18th century.
