The village of Semendyayka is located 11 versts from the district town and 136 versts from the provincial capital. The date of construction of the first church here is unknown, but before the stone church appeared, there was a wooden church.

The stone church in Semendyayevo was built in 1785 with funds from the local landowner Sushkov. The church has two altars: a cold one dedicated to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and a warm chapel dedicated to Saint Demetrius of Thessalonica. The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. All church documents are preserved: copies of the metric books since 1803 and confession rolls since 1829.

There is no permanent clergy at the church. From 1872 to 1889, the parish was managed by the clergy of the villages of Glebovskoye and Vypolzovaya Sloboda. Since 1889, the church and parish have been overseen by the clergy of the Glebovskaya church, and services are conducted alternately with the clergy of the village of Vypolzovaya Sloboda.

The clergy of Glebovskoye village receives income from the parish: 32 rubles in interest from the clergy capital, up to 275 rubles from services and requirements, and 25 rubles from bread collection, totaling about 330 rubles per year. The land associated with the church includes 1 desyatina of homestead land and up to 33 desyatinas of arable land, but there is no plan or land registry for the land. The parish includes the village of Semendyayevo and the villages of Podramenye, Antufyevo, Shchelkino, and Nelidovo, where according to the clerical records, there are 206 men and 199 women, all Orthodox.
