Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The warm Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a two-story building, was laid in 1677 and completed in 1680, when it was consecrated by the abbot Mitrophan, who later became Saint Mitrophan of Voronezh. In the refectory of this church, three altars were consecrated in 1833: in honor of Saint and Miracle-Worker Mitrophan, the Transfiguration of the Lord, and Venerable Michael Malein. The last altar was created in memory of Tsar Michael Feodorovich, who especially revered Venerable Macarius of Unzha, patronized the monastery, and visited it twice.

In 1919, the new authorities expelled the monastic brotherhood. From 1929, the churches were closed, and the monastery fence was dismantled for the construction of a public bath on its territory.

In 1993, the monastery was revived as a women's monastery. In 1994, the Makaryevsky church was consecrated, and the following year the relics of Venerable Macarius returned to the monastery. Prayers and services resumed. In 2016, by the decree of the Holy Synod, the monastery was transformed into a men's monastery.
