The museum in Chermoz was founded in 1967 and is located in the historical center of the city. It occupies a building constructed in 1812 for the Main Administration of the Perm estate of the Lazarevs, which has preserved its original layout. Today, the museum houses about seven thousand exhibits.

Of particular interest are the archives of the Chermoz Metallurgical Plant, collections of cast iron, materials about the owners of the Perm estate of the Lazarevs, as well as works by Moscow artists evacuated during the Great Patriotic War. Here you can see the graphics of N. A. Lakov, sculptures by Z. M. Vilensky, and paintings by I. Titov. Also noteworthy are the taxidermy collection of Yuri Ushakov and the carving of birch burl by Petr Utin.

The Chermoz Museum has unique cash safes from 1812 that are remarkable for their size and quality of craftsmanship.

Museum guides tell visitors about the history of the city's main attraction, the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1829. In 1848, on its western facade, the fortress master Yegor Epishin installed clock chimes and a lunar calendar, which became the city's second calling card. Additionally, museum staff preserve interesting legends about the construction of the former Main Administration of the Perm estate of the Lazarevs, including stories about secret underground passages beneath Chermoz.

In the museum, one can learn about the history of the city through tours such as "The City-Factory of Chermoz," "The Perm Estate of the Lazarevs," and "Mining Life in the 19th and Early 20th Centuries."

For schoolchildren, classes on various topics are conducted, including a story about the Ural Atlantis, an area of the city known as Podgora, which was flooded in 1956.
