The chapel is located in the preserved part of the parish building of the former Assumption Church of Volsk, built with the funds of parishioners in 1904. After the October Revolution, the church was closed, and in 1968 it burned down.

In 2012, restoration work was carried out on the surviving part of the building, and a roadside chapel was established in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

On November 25, 2012, with the blessing of Metropolitan Longin of Saratov and Volsk, the dean of the Volsk district, Archpriest Alexey Zemtsov, performed the consecration of the chapel. On the days of the memory of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the clergy of the Annunciation Church of Volsk hold services in the chapel. It is affiliated with the Annunciation Church of the Most Holy Theotokos in Volsk.
