In 1863, Governor-General A. Dugaemel appealed to the Holy Synod with a request to allow the construction of a chapel in Omsk to alleviate the crop failures. The project was presented, and the chapel was built in 1867 in the city center, on the market territory, on Lyubinsky Avenue (now Lenin Street). The construction was financed by merchant Fyodor Kurgansky.

In 1902, a wooden vestibule was added to the chapel. At the end of the 19th century, a store owned by M.A. Shanina appeared nearby, and later a transformer booth, which created inconveniences. In this regard, the Steppe Governor-General decided to build a new chapel. A project was developed and funds were raised. The location was chosen at the corner of Museum Street and Chernavin Avenue, opposite the First Women's Gymnasium. The Omsk City Duma allocated a land plot for the chapel in August 1916, but the relocation never took place.

The chapel was affiliated with the Assumption Cathedral, where the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God was kept. Services were held before it three times a week. According to some reports, after the revolution, the icon was moved to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Cathedral.

After the revolution, the chapel was demolished, and in 1936, a photo studio was built in its place.

In 1996-1997, the chapel was rebuilt according to the project of M.M. Khakhaev. The new building significantly differs from the original. The Iveron chapel had an irregular octagonal plan with two types of dimensions and was topped with a low octagonal tent with an onion dome on a high neck, decorated with kokoshniks and dormer windows. The windows had keel-shaped frames, and the narrow edges were adorned with large crosses made of masonry and a frieze of semicircular arches. The reconstructed chapel is a small church with a five-sided altar and a narthex made of red unplastered brick in the Russian style.
