The village of Yeltesunovo has an interesting history. The church chronicle mentions that its name is of Greek origin and roughly translates to "zoo". In the church books of 1628, it is noted: "The Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God, the estate of Orina Nikitichna in the village of Yeltesunovo, tribute 5 altyns 5 kopecks". In 1677, the village became the estate of the Moscow Spas Novy Monastery. Documents record that the warm Nikolskaya church of the Yeltesunovo temple was consecrated during the reign of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, and the cold Assumption church, during Emperor Paul Petrovich. The parish revered the Galatian Icon of the Mother of God, which saved the residents from cholera in 1848. The church housed the Gospel "printed on the altar".

The Yeltesunovo parish included the villages of Chaganovo, Melichnaya, Morozovo, Kormilkovo, and Stepanikha (Kokuy). The parish had 376 households, with 1106 men and 1249 women living there. The houses on church land belonged to the residents. In 1884, a church-parish school was opened in the village, and five years later, merchant Vladimir Ivanovich Simanin built a zemstvo school. In 1930, the church in Yeltesunovo was closed. In 2004, thanks to the efforts of the residents and the sponsorship of A.S. Prokhorov, a chapel was built and consecrated in the village in honor of the Galatian Icon of the Mother of God.
