The village is located on the trade route leading from the city of Kurgan to the Presnogorykovskaya stanitsa and the city of Petropavlovsk, near the Kureynoye and Terenkul lakes.

It was founded by the decree of the Kurgan Zemsky Court on October 15, 1804. The first house here was built by Nikolai Ivanovich Semukov, born in 1773. The decree mandated the resettlement of residents from the Yalutorovsky district, as well as from the villages of Belkova in the Paderinskaya volost, Lisya, and Bespalova in the Paderinskaya volost to the new village of Kureyna.

The stone one-story church was laid in 1899 and consecrated in honor of the Holy Trinity. The new stone building of the Holy Trinity Church was constructed in 1900 by the efforts of the parishioners according to a plan approved by the consistory in 1890. In the clerical records of 1915, the priest describes the church as follows: "A stone building, connected with a similar bell tower, sturdy, covered with iron, plastered and whitewashed inside and out. There is a stone guardhouse and a mortuary next to it, covered with iron, located at the back corners of the fence. The fence is stone with iron gates, wickets, and grilles, completed in 1911, whitewashed and painted."

In the village of Bolshoye-Martinskoye, there is an attached church, and in the village of Pokrovka, a chapel.

Despite its name, Lake Bolshoye Kureynoye is not large in size or depth. Its diameter is 1.5 km, and its depth is 1.5 m. The bottom is covered with silt, and mud is found in places. The shores are surrounded by forest, and the vegetation consists of reeds and bulrushes.
