A small stone single-story house, neighboring the temples of Red Square in the city, is considered one of the oldest civil constructions in Pereslavl. Special attention is drawn to the window frames on its central facade, characteristic of architecture from the late 18th to early 19th century.

It is known that this building previously housed an alms house. Detailed information about this is presented in a report by Pyotr Fyodorovich Alexandrov, the former City Head of Pereslavl, from 1897. The report states that the alms house was founded in 1811 by the Rostov merchant Kekin, who built a small stone facility for it. Until 1892, the alms house was maintained by the city, but then the City Head proposed that the local hereditary honorary citizen V. V. Gladkova purchase the house for the alms house. She bought it, transferred it to the city, and took on the care of elderly men and women, numbering up to 20 individuals. After her death, the maintenance of the alms house again fell to the city budget, while the house remained city property.

Some time ago, this ancient building housed a pancake shop, and now it is home to the cafe 'Montparnasse.'
