One of the ordinary square towers of the southern wall is located between the Taynitskaya and Sviblova (Vodovzvodnaya) towers. Its name is associated with the legend of the miraculous icon of the "Annunciation," which once stood on this tower. The exact date of construction is unknown, but it is presumed to be 1487-1488. The top of the tower was raised in the 1680s. The low square base of the tower has wide windows and is topped with machicolations, a fighting platform, and a parapet.

Above, on the open arched square, rises a truncated pyramid of the tent with a lookout tower. In 1667, the Annunciation Tower was mentioned as a passageway, as in the mid-17th century, the Portomoynye Gates were arranged nearby for the passage of palace laundresses to the Portomoyny raft on the Moscow River.

In 1731, G. Shedel added the Church of the Annunciation to the tower, and the tower served as a bell tower. In 1831, the Portomoynye Gates were bricked up. The tower was restored in 1866, and in 1891-1892, it became an altar of the Annunciation Church. In 1932-1933, during restoration, the church was dismantled, restoring the ancient forms of the facades and embrasures.

The interior space of the lower volume, which has the shape of an irregular quadrilateral, is covered with a vaulted ceiling with arches. The tower had a deep basement, which is now partially filled.

The upper square is separated from the tent by a flat ceiling, and similar ceilings divide the interior space of the tent into tiers.

The height of the tower is 30.7 m, and with the weather vane, it is 32.45 m.
