Among the natural attractions of Crimea, Ak-Kaya holds a special place. Its appearance is familiar to many, although not everyone remembers its name. The rock became a "famous stranger" thanks to filmmakers who loved its unusual look, allowing for the creation of exotic atmospheres in movies.

Ak-Kaya stands about 325 meters above sea level. Due to its sheer cliff and white color, it appears taller and resembles a powerful fortress created by nature. The white color of the rock, from which it gets its name, is due to limestone formations. In the sun, they look dazzlingly white, while at sunset and sunrise, they take on reddish or golden hues.

In the second half of the 20th century, the White Rock attracted the attention of archaeologists. Under the guidance of Yu. G. Kolosov, excavations were conducted here, during which about twenty sites of ancient Mousterian humans were discovered. Stone knives and tools were found, as well as the first excavated remains of Neanderthals. There is evidence that mammoths, giant deer, cave bears, saiga antelopes, and other now-extinct animals inhabited this area. It is also believed that settlements of Sarmatians and Scythians existed on Ak-Kaya.

Next to the rock grows an oak tree that is about 800 years old. It is said that under its shade, Suvorov held negotiations with a representative of the Turkish Sultan.
