Before the October Revolution, the castle-like house belonged to a German nobleman named Grandbaum. From the window of his bedroom, he could survey the entire area with the help of a telescope: fields from the Shchetinny forest in the east to the Saltykov forest in the south and to the Polivanov factory in the west. To the north was the Zapovedka forest. Next to the nobleman's house was a brick factory, and all buildings used exclusively local materials. The factory continued to operate both during the collective farm and state farm periods.

The stone for the foundation was extracted from the Golden forest ravine, located southeast of the village. Limestone, which is a type of white clay, was taken from the Vindovishche ravine on the southern side of the village. Eggs were added to the mortar for the wall masonry, which is why the walls have survived to this day.

Under the nobleman, a church and a parish school with housing for the teacher were built. The estate was landscaped: a greenhouse, cherry and apple orchards were surrounded by alleys of poplars and linden trees. The estate was adorned with roses, lilacs, barberries, and wild roses. Nearby, on a hill, a plot was designated for melons, where watermelons were successfully grown.
