The greenhouse was built in the 1750s in the northeast part of the estate park and became the first structure of its kind in this complex. Fifteen years later, a new Large Stone Greenhouse appeared nearby, which still functions today. The name of the architect who created the American greenhouse remains unknown, and debates about the origin of its name continue. In the estate's 'Plant Catalog' from 1786, the term 'American greenhouse' is explained as a structure of 'great warmth.'

The building stands on a sturdy stone foundation and has roofs with varying slopes. The facade of the greenhouse mainly consists of window frames oriented to the south, southeast, and southwest, that is, towards the sunniest side. The angle of the frames is calculated to make the most efficient use of sunlight, especially in winter. Simple greenish glass was used for better light absorption. Such constructions created diverse thermal and light conditions necessary for growing tropical plants.

The American greenhouse had an exclusively utilitarian purpose. It is currently closed for restoration, and visitors to the estate can only view the external facades of the building.
