The Aksai Military-Historical Museum was founded in 1948 as a school museum and is now one of the largest in the Rostov region. The museum's exhibits are housed in preserved buildings that are monuments of civil architecture from the 18th-19th centuries, and are presented in three museum complexes: "Post Station," "Military-Historical Complex," and "Customs Post." Each of these complexes reflects a specific period in the history of Aksai. In the "Military-Historical Complex," you can see the only exhibition of military equipment from the second half of the 20th century in the region. The "Post Station" features preserved examples of horse-drawn transport from the late 19th and 20th centuries, as well as exhibits related to the history of the postal service of the Lower Don and Cossack life. The "18th Century Customs Post" offers visitors a unique stone cellar from the first half of the 18th century with an exhibition dedicated to the history of the customs service on the Lower Don at that time. All museum complexes are located in picturesque corners of Aksai.

The museum is engaged in the preservation, study, and demonstration of 72,000 museum items, distributed across twenty collections. These items are included in the State Catalog of the Russian Federation and are presented on the museum's website.
