In the historical center of Achinsk, among brick mansions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, is the estate of merchant M. M. Mokrousov. Here are the residential house and two shops, which today house the Achinsk Local History Museum.

In the two-story mansion, tiled stoves, ceiling stucco, metal shutters, and parquet flooring from merchant times have been preserved. In the museum's exhibition, one can hear the popular melody "Mother-Dove" from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, performed on a German polyphony, one of three remaining in Russia. For travel enthusiasts, the museum offers excursions to the Aydashinskaya Cave, an archaeological site from the Neolithic era, and to the excavation site of the Achinsk Paleolithic settlement, where a unique stone lunar-solar calendar was found, remarkable for Siberia.

As a souvenir from the museum and the city of Achinsk, tourists can purchase a piece of nepheline, which medieval scholars believed brings good luck to its owner.
