In the village of Zolotukhino, Kursk region, a women's monastery was founded in honor of St. Alexius, Man of God, on a site where there was previously neither an Orthodox monastery nor a parish church. Previously, there was a fattening farm here.

In 1997, Archbishop Juvenal of Kursk and Rylsk learned that the head of the agricultural enterprise "Sodruzhestvo" was looking for a buyer for a plot of land with residential and utility buildings. The plot was located in the center of Zolotukhino, but the road to it was unpaved, and the buildings were deteriorating. With the support of the Kursk regional administration, in the summer of 1997, Bishop Juvenal proposed to the director of "Sodruzhestvo" to purchase the land for the establishment of a monastic community.

When negotiations were in full swing and a successful outcome was anticipated, Archbishop Juvenal gathered a small community of nuns and novices from the Korennaya Pustyn and offered them to relocate to the new monastery. He did not hide the difficulties that awaited the sisters who agreed to move. In Korennaya Pustyn, they lived in a warm cell building and prayed in a spacious church, while in Zolotukhino, they would find only dilapidated structures in need of repair. Nevertheless, four sisters agreed to move.

On September 11, 1997, the plot was transferred to the Kursk diocese. On September 19 of the same year, the monastic assembly unanimously adopted the Statute of the Russian Orthodox Church, and the monastery was named in honor of St. Alexius, Man of God.

On April 9, 1998, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church approved the opening of the monastery, and on July 17, the nun Angelina (Petrenko) was appointed as the abbess of the monastery.

On September 25, 2006, Archbishop German of Kursk and Rylsk consecrated the foundation stone of a new church in honor of the Prophet John the Baptist. In October, the general plan for construction was approved, and in December, the architectural design of the buildings and church was finalized. In February 2007, construction work began, and by March 30, the basement floors of three buildings were completed.

By July 2007, the walls of the church were erected, and the construction of two buildings connected to the church by covered galleries was completed. The interior finishing of the church is underway, the gilding of the domes is being completed, and stained glass windows have been installed. The construction of a building with a bathhouse and laundry, as well as utility structures, is nearing completion. Various vehicles are located on the monastery grounds.

The pilgrim house with a bakery and candle factory is being finished. The construction of the abbess's house is nearing completion, the courtyard is paved with tiles and illuminated. In 2008, the construction of the monastery fence and arched holy gates was completed. In 2009, the spring and chapel were improved.

Today, 15 residents live in the monastery. Churches in honor of St. Alexius and the Prophet John the Baptist are active. A Sunday school for children from Zolotukhino and nearby villages operates at the monastery. A tradition of communal meals on Sundays and holidays with the invitation of pilgrims has been established.
