Residential House of Merchant Davydov

Фото 1
The unpretentious decor of this house makes it a modest monument of antiquity. The facade is adorned with seven windows and a charming mezzanine with three windows. The windows on the first and second floors are framed with simple profiled moldings. The central part of the facade is highlighted by three windows decorated with rustication and imitation of voussoirs.

Since the late 19th century, the house belonged to the merchant family of Nikita Grigorievich Davydov. Initially, he and his wife were engaged in firewood trading. In 1903, together with his sons Vladimir and Ivan, he founded the Trading House "N.G. Davydov and Sons," which specialized in wholesale trade of wallpapers, paints, and stationery goods. Their office was located on Balchug Street, in house 14.

Before the revolution, Nikita Grigorievich lived in this house with his eldest son Vladimir.
