One of the pre-revolutionary architectural monuments of Rostov-on-Don is the house that belonged to Priest Alexander Krasnokutsky, who was the chief priest of the Kazan Church and also served in the "District Guardianship of Children's Orphanages." The Kazan Church was located nearby but was destroyed by the Soviet authorities in 1930. The priest's house was built in the late 19th century, but it is unknown whether Alexander Krasnokutsky was its first owner or acquired it later. He lived in this house until the city was captured by the Bolsheviks in the winter of 1920.

Today, the house is in a deplorable state: large cracks are visible on the walls in the yard, and the passage arch is supported by three ordinary logs. This is all that remains of the Kazan Church, its rector, and parishioners. It is hard to believe that just over a hundred years ago, there was a completely different life here. Two priests of the Kazan Church, Alexander Krasnokutsky and Fyodor Malyarevsky, lived nearby, serving God and the people. Back then, beautiful houses delighted the eye, and instead of the current neglected Socialist Street, Nikolayevskaya Street thrived.
