One of the significant works of the famous Rostov architect Nikolai Alexandrovich Doroshenko is the house of Ivan Kashchenko, located at the modern address Chekhov Avenue, 41. Like many other buildings created by Doroshenko, this house is designed in the eclectic style. Built in 1894 at the request of Rostov resident Kashchenko, it remained in his ownership for over two decades.

With the arrival of Soviet power, the house was confiscated. In the following decades, the building fell into disrepair. In the 1990s, it was transferred to the presidium of the Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and underwent restoration. Since 1998, the house has been included in the list of cultural heritage sites and is under state protection. Today, Kashchenko's house, like other works by Doroshenko, attracts significant attention from local historians and history enthusiasts.
