Tver Station, one of the largest on the Nikolayevskaya (October) railway, was classified as a first-class station. The station was built according to the design of the senior architect of the railway department R.A. Zhelyazevich. The old station building, erected in 1848, is considered one of the best passenger railway structures in Russia. It features a single-story body, elongated along the tracks, with rounded corners. Trains of the Russian emperors, traveling between the capitals, often stopped in Tver. The western part of the building housed rooms for the imperial family.
