In modern Ukraine, many monuments of pre-revolutionary architecture of the Russian Empire have been preserved. Among them stands out the building of the administration and bank of the Mutual Credit Society in Kherson, erected during the reign of Emperor Nicholas II. The ceremonial start of construction took place on April 4, 1899, with honored guests in attendance, including the local governor Prince Obolensky and leaders of the Mutual Credit Society. Archpriest Vladimir conducted a thanksgiving service, after which a plaque with a speech was laid under the foundation.

This building became a new home for the society, as the development of commercial activities required relocation. Construction was completed in 1900, and the project was developed by local provincial architect Anton Svarik. The building is located at the intersection of Mikhailovich Street (now Rumyantsevskaya) and Surovo Street (now Catholic). The mansion was richly decorated with architectural elements, complemented by two sculptures and the society's coat of arms. This building, if not the best in Kherson, is certainly one of the most beautiful, and its preservation is important for the historical appearance of the city.

With the advent of Soviet power, the Mutual Credit Society's storage was looted, and the building was confiscated from its former owners. For many years, its exterior remained neglected. From 1923, it housed the Transport Consumer Society, and then successively a local institute and a rehabilitation center. Only in our time has the building been restored, and within its walls, a branch of Sberbank of Russia has been established. Thus, a century later, the bank has once again occupied the mansion originally built for similar purposes.
