The Suzun Local History Museum, part of the museum-tourist complex, is one of the oldest in the Novosibirsk region. It was established on a voluntary basis on November 19, 1967, and officially opened on June 9, 1979. Over its existence, the museum has gathered diverse and interesting collections.

The numismatic collection stands out, including coins from the Suzun Mint, the only center beyond the Urals where Siberian and later all-Russian coins were minted. In 2012 and 2013, the collection was enriched with finds discovered during archaeological excavations at the mint site, including blanks, preforms, and impressions.

The second most significant collection is of icons created by local icon painters, as Suzun was a center of folk iconography. The museum's scientific-natural collection includes over 130 bone remains of ancient mammoth fauna.

The ethnographic collection of the museum is also of interest, presenting materials about the culture and everyday life of the Russian population in Siberia during the 19th and 20th centuries: clothing, tools, and products of local crafts such as pottery, woodworking, and weaving.

The museum's funds include more than 17,000 exhibits. Among the rarities are items from the copper smelting industry: a ladle for manual pouring of non-ferrous metals, a mold for stamping ladles, a bath for molten copper and silver, and a casting tray for ingots. Items from the ironworking factory are also significant. The museum has six exhibition halls: "Exhibition Hall," "Folk Crafts, Trades, Traditions," "Interior of a Peasant's Hut and the Home of a Merchant at the Turn of the 19th and 20th Centuries in Suzun," "Nature of the Native Land," "Drawing Room," and "Office" of the manager of the Suzun Copper Smelting Plant from the late 19th century.

Since 1989, the museum has been located in a building constructed in the late 19th century as a state apartment and office for the manager of the copper smelting plant and mint. By a decree of the governor of the Novosibirsk region dated February 21, 2005, the building was recognized as a local heritage site and included in the state register of cultural heritage objects.

In March 2011, the museum-tourist complex "Suzun Factory. Mint" was established based on the museum. Currently, it includes the Suzun Local History Museum, which will be renamed "Museum-Estate of the Manager of the Suzun Copper Smelting Plant and Mint" in 2016, and the historical-industrial museum "Tolchelnya."
