One of the most respected places in Belgrade is the grave of Baron Peter Nikolayevich Wrangel, the commander of the Russian Army and leader of the White Movement. His final resting place is located in the Russian Church of the Holy Trinity. According to his will, Wrangel was buried in Belgrade, for which his body was transported from Brussels to the capital of Yugoslavia. The baron was very popular among the locals, so his funeral was attended not only by Russian émigrés from around the world but also by Serbs. The king declared Wrangel's funeral a state event.

On October 6, 1929, Peter Nikolayevich Wrangel was solemnly reburied in the Church of the Holy Trinity. The coffin with his body was carried by generals of the Russian All-Military Union. Flags of all the old imperial regiments, brought from Russia, were placed around his tombstone. The grave was preserved even during Tito's rule, and the flags were saved in 1945 by members of the Russian Corps and taken to Germany. Today, they are back in Moscow.

After the fall of the communist regime in Yugoslavia, the burial site became accessible for visits again, and tens of thousands of people come here every year. In 1999, during the bombing of Belgrade, the church was severely damaged, but Wrangel's burial miraculously remained intact. It is regularly visited by representatives of the Serbian government, local activists, residents, and guests of the city.
