On May 31, 1905, the Southern Resort Hall was opened and consecrated in Gelendzhik. One of the local newspapers of that time noted that many summer residents and local residents gathered for the celebration. Numerous toasts were made, including one for the prosperity of Gelendzhik.

The hall was created for the residents and guests of the city to relax, have fun, and gain spiritual enlightenment. Performances, literary and musical evenings were held here, and a brass band played. Free access to the club was granted only to members of the Society and particularly important guests, while others paid for entry.

In the book "Gelendzhik in Old Postcards" by Platonov, it is mentioned that the Southern Kurzal quickly became popular and turned into the best social club in the city. It featured billiards and a small library where one could quietly read books and fresh newspapers.

An interesting fact was the presence of a small boat dock in the kurzal, from where sea excursion enthusiasts set off on journeys for a fee.

From 1930 to 1950, it housed the club of the Lenin Party Town named after A.I. Mikoyan. Later, a popular cinema called "Chayka" was located in this building.

Today, the former building of the Southern Resort Hall houses the administration of the children's water park "Dolphin," and the water park itself is located on the adjacent territory. The building also gave its name to Kurzalnaya Street in Gelendzhik.
