The Ybsky Seraphim Women's Monastery was founded in 1997. There are three churches on its territory: the Church of St. Stephen of Perm, the Church of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, and the Temple of St. Seraphim of Sarov. On the evening of December 1, 2018, a fire occurred at the monastery, resulting in the burning of a two-story wooden building. Six nuns lived in this building, which also housed the monastery's prosphora bakery.

On May 3, 1996, for the first time in this century, after a period of persecution against the church, a Cross Procession took place through the streets of the capital of the Komi Republic. Participants of the procession carried banners, icons, and a cross, singing prayers and troparia. After leaving the city, the procession covered about fifty more kilometers. The icon of St. Stephen led the procession, which repeatedly stopped in the villages and hamlets of Komi. There, with a large gathering of local residents, services were held. The Cross Procession concluded on May 4 in the ancient village of Yb, where on a hill, above the full-flowing spring Sysola and the green slopes of the hills, stands the Church of St. Stephen of Perm. The image of the saint was brought into the church, which was then still a chapel, and will remain there forever.

In August 1999, utility buildings were constructed, and the construction of a well began. The work was carried out by pilgrim Maxim and workers from Yasnaya: Vladimir and Alexander. The construction of the monastery's building involved guys from Vorkuta: Alexander and Tikhon under the guidance of Vladimir Rimsky. In the same month, "ZIL" and "GAZ" vans were brought in.

On June 15, 1999, the stone laid in the foundation of the new church in honor of Seraphim of Sarov was consecrated, marking the start of the construction of the central church of the Seraphim Women's Monastery. On November 3, 1999, the first pile was driven in to the left of the entrance for the future church.
