The Yby Historical and Local History Museum named after Alexandra Alexandrovna Kuratova impresses with its uniqueness. It was founded in 1986 as a public museum. The founder was Alexandra Alexandrovna Kuratova, a native of the village of Yby, a local historian, and a former teacher at the local school. Artists R.N. Yermolin and V.R. Yermolin participated in creating the first exhibition. In 1992, the museum received state status, and since 1997 it has been located in the building of a former village school built in 1892. Since 2006, it has been a branch of the MBUK 'Syktyvdin Museum Association.'

The main collection of the museum consists of 4,425 storage units, and the exhibition area is 231 square meters. Permanent exhibitions are located in five halls. The ethnography hall features a unique collection from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including household items and tools of the Komi people, domestic utensils, and means of transportation. Here, one can also see the interior of a peasant's hut of the Sysola Komi.

The Hall of Glory contains photographs, documents, and personal belongings of fellow villagers, participants of the Great Patriotic War, rear workers, and participants of local conflicts. It houses the 'Book of Memory of the Village of Yby,' as well as items found by the 'Northern Star' group at battle sites.

The museum's interactive platform 'Territory of the Ancients or Living Lizards' received the Head of the Republic of Komi Grant in the field of museum affairs in February 2018, and in December 2018, it became the winner of the republican competition 'Leaders of the Tourism Industry of the Republic of Komi' in the nomination 'Best Museum Project.'
