The tower was built in the 1480s between the First Nameless Tower and the Peter Tower. In the 1680s, its massive quadrangular base was topped with a through four-sided spire, which housed a watchtower with an octagonal roof and a weather vane. In 1701, the tower had gates that were later bricked up. In 1771, due to the construction of the Kremlin Palace, the tower was demolished but then restored. Inside the tower are two tiers of vaulted rooms: the lower tier is covered by a cylindrical vault, while the upper tier has a closed vault with formwork. The upper part of the quadrilateral opens into the spire's cavity. The height of the tower is 30.2 meters.
