All Saints Chapel in Ryazan

Фото 1
In the memorial park, which was once part of Cathedral Square, there is a small chapel designed by architect Sytykh, in front of which a fountain is installed. This is probably the only monument that appeared by the beginning of the celebration of the 900th anniversary of Ryazan in 1995. The chapel turned out to be surprisingly beautiful and elegant, harmoniously blending with the neighboring cathedrals. It resembles the ancient battle helmet of a Russian knight. However, the empty niches facing all four cardinal directions raise some confusion. Statues of four famous and even legendary Ryazanians were supposed to be placed in these niches: Bishop Vasily, Prince Oleg Ivanovich, Princess Evpraksia, and Prince Roman. The plaster models of these sculptures, created by sculptor Boris Gorbunov, have long been ready.
