From 1819 to 1925, a stone church was built on the site of the wooden church at the cemetery, thanks to the efforts of the local landowner M.S. Babkina. Maria Stepanovna Babkina, born Oznbishina, was the wife of the commander of the battalion of the 2nd Infantry Cossack Regiment of the Vladimir Militia of 1812. The church has three altars: the main one is dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord, while in the warm refectory, to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and Archdeacon Stephen. The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. From the previous church, icons of Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow," and the Eternal Birth from God the Father of the Word have been preserved.

The parish includes a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist, their maintenance was provided from various sources amounting to up to 680 rubles a year. The clergy members had their own houses on church land. The land near the church included 33 desyatinas and 1010 sazhen of arable land, 747 sazhen under the cemetery and graveyard, 1278 sazhen under roads and ravines, and 10 desyatinas and 2395 square sazhen under bushes; there was no haymaking land. The parish consisted of several villages: Glazunova, Vyripaeva, Sofryakov, Leonova, Alferova, Chulkova, Byltzina, Belykh, Kuzyaeva, Telepova, Krasnaya Yablonya, Kolesnikov, Konorov, Korovkin, Inokostsev, Petrunina, and Tatarintsev. In these villages, according to clerical records, there were 823 men and 977 women, of whom 61 were dissenters.

Since 1885, a church-parish school operated at the cemetery, where 51 students studied in 1897-1898.

The Ascension Church, lost in the depths of the countryside, was never closed even during the persecutions of the Russian Orthodox Church in the 20th century. The white church, built in the classical style with a columned portico and a bell tower spire, is surrounded by a forest and is known among the locals as the "white church."

The Holy Ascension Parish of the Ascension Cemetery operated from December 17, 1999, to March 17, 2011. The Church of the Ascension of the Lord is the Ascension Skete of the Sretensky Convent in Gorokhovets.
