On May 27, 1945, Major Davis informed Ataman Krasnov, as well as all Cossack generals and officers, that the next day they were to appear at the Hospital for a conference with the English command.

Hearing this, many old Cossacks began to protest and plead with the officers not to leave their people and not to go to the Hospital. However, none of the Cossack leadership could even imagine that the English would break their word of honor given to the Cossacks upon their surrender.

That night became the last one that the officers and generals spent with their loved ones before the English betrayed them. Almost none of them were destined to see their families again. A quarter of a century later, the communists caught up with their victims, while the British acted as willing executors in this tragic event. It was hard to expect anything else from the communists, but Britain's actions forever devalued the concept of honor in their national language. So-called democratic countries have repeatedly demanded apologies from Germany, but England has yet to find the strength to apologize for the war crime of its citizens.
