Princess Maria Voieykova, born Golitsyna, was one of the largest landowners, owning more than 30 thousand desyatins of land only in the Sevsk district.

By her order, the Lopandinsky sugar factory was built, which began operations in 1898 and still functions today. During the 1905-1907 revolution, peasant unrest occurred on her estates, accompanied by repeated arson of property, including the manor house in the village of Radogosh.

Her husband was a relative of the last commandant of the Winter Palace under Nicholas II, V.N. Voieykov, whose memoirs, in which the emperor is described in the most positive terms, were recently republished.

Maria Voieykova's father, the Most Serene Prince Vladimir Dmitrievich Golitsyn (1815-1888), was a childhood and youth friend of Alexander II and held a high position at court, being the chief equerry.

The princess ended her life in France, where she moved with her husband and children after the October Revolution. She passed away in 1933 at the age of 73. During Soviet times, her castle housed educational institutions, such as a vocational school and later a dormitory.
